Park Health & Rehabilitation has an excellent Therapeutic Recreation Department with creative and energetic staff. The activity programs are diverse, multi-faceted, and appeal to residents of all ages and level of ability. Some of the programs offered are as follows:
Music programs of all varieties
Brad Ray, Therapeutic Recreation Director, is an accomplished musician and implements music in many of his daily activities.
Clare Schleichert, Activities Assistant, brings her enthusiasm and energy to various group activities here at Park Health. Her background with the geriatric community, specializing in dementia-related care has helped her to connect with many residents. She uses her natural music skills in voice and piano to enhance our Spiritual Groups. Her knack for arts and crafts assures that all who attend get to take home a unique and individual knick knack. She has a warm rapport, and is loved by all residents and family members. She works closely with Brad to implement our numerous life enriching programs and activities.
In addition to the musicians on staff, Park offers professional entertainment bi-monthly to create a concert-like atmosphere. During the warm months, many of these special events are held outdoors on our scenic patio.
Games & Intellectual Groups
The Therapeutic Recreation Department offers games for players of all ability levels. Weekly poker tournaments, "Big Crossword Quizzes", dice games, "Name That Tune", trivia quiz games, reminiscence groups, and current event discussion groups actively stimulate the minds of residents of all levels of ability.
Cooking Classes & Baking Groups
Our Activity Team offers group cooking classes that are all inclusive and foster a sense of independence among the residents. Baking classes have featured "Make Your Own Pizzas", cookie baking class, fruit salad party, brownie parties and many others.
Spiritual Opportunities
Our Volunteer Team provides spiritual opportunities weekly. In addition to Catholic Rosary and Saturday Communion, there is a bi-monthly Bible Study and Monday Hymn Sings that are open to residents of all faiths. The Activity Team also plans special events to coincide with significant holidays of all faiths.
